Senior Tax Manager

Jay Snyder, CPA serves as a Senior Tax Manager at Mueller & Associates, CPAs. Mr. Snyder plays an active role in the Tax Compliance and Tax Planning divisions, where he handles moderate to complex engagements within a diverse array of industries. In addition, Mr. Snyder supports our Tax Litigation and Advisory Services divisions.

Currently entering his 25th year of practice in Public Accounting, Mr. Snyder began his career in New York City at the audit department of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PWC), a Big Four firm. While at PWC, Mr. Snyder gained valuable experience highlighted by his role auditing the financial statements for the mass media giant Viacom, a publicly traded company with revenues in excess of $25 billion. After a four-year tenure as a Senior Associate at PWC, Mr. Snyder continued his career in New York City at Ernst & Young (EY), another Big Four public accounting firm. While at EY, Mr. Snyder was exposed to the early days of implementation of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) and conducted audits throughout the U.S. and Canada, highlighted by engagements in New York, Toronto, and Texas. Mr. Snyder’s accounting career continued in Stamford, Connecticut at O’Connor, Davies, Munns & Dobbins, a 300-staff CPA firm with regional operations in the northeast. Mr. Snyder would later move with his family to Austin, Texas where we joined an established local CPA firm and spent eight years managing their audit and tax departments. After a more recent tenure as a CFO of a non-profit organization, Mr. Snyder came back to Public Accounting and joined Mueller & Associates, CPAs as a Senior Tax Manager.

Mr. Snyder holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Manhattan College in The Bronx, NY and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the New York State Board of Public Accountancy. As an avid outdoors person, Mr. Snyder played college tennis, worked as a tennis instructor in New York, and has remained an active player to this day. Mr. Snyder enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and staying up-to-date on various topics, including tax, politics, court cases, and related.
